                             SHAKESPEARE 2001:
           NEW READINGS OF THE PAGE, NEW MEANINGS FOR THE STAGE
   The 34th Annual Texas Tech University Comparative Literature Symposium
                   Tentative Dates: February 15-18, 2001
                          Directed by Donald Rude

       The Texas Tech University Interdepartmental Committee on
Comparative Literature will sponsor a symposium, "Shakespeare 2001: New
Readings of the Page, New Meanings for the Stage," tentatively scheduled
for Feb. l5-l8, at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX.   We will welcome
proposals for panels and for papers on all aspects of Shakespeare's life
and works, and the staged or filmed presentation of his plays. Send 500
word abstracts to Dr. Donald Rude, Department of English, TTU, Lubbock,
