         POSTGRADUATE AWARDS 2003 at  Trinity College
Dublin
The University offers a number of postgraduate
awards. These awards are
open
for application to students registered, or intending
to register for,
higher
research degrees (i.e. M.Litt., M.Sc. or Ph.D. by
pure research only).
These
awards are not available to students registered or
intending to register
for
taught postgraduate courses. Explore our research

before application is recommended.
Category I Awards
Ussher and International awards, open to applicants
from all countries,
are few
in number, necessarily very competitive and provide a
significant
maintenance
award (currently ¬ 8,508 per year) and cover fees.
There are likely to
be 6
offered this year. The closing date for receipt of
applications is 18th
April.
Category II Awards
In 2003 there will be 100 awards potentially
available for new entrants
and ca.
30 awards for continuing students. These provide a
maintenance
contribution
of
¬ 2,158 and full EU-fee coverage for EU students or ¬
5,079 towards fees
for
non EU students but no maintenance. The closing date
for receipt of
applications is 13th June.

Eligibility
Normally, awards will only be made to applicants who
have a first or
upper
second class primary degree. Further details can be
obtained from
admissions
In order to qualify for these awards, a candidate's
personal income
(excluding
money they receive from other sources to cover fees)
must not exceed ¬
11,428. Applicants whose total personal income
exceeds ¬ 11,428 may,
under
exceptional circumstances, be granted an award for
payment of all or
part of
their fees.
Application
The closing date for receipt of application for the
Catagory I Awards is
18th
April, and for the Catagory II awards is 13th June.
