Welcome!

This is the webpage of the research project "Reducing uncertainty in forest sustainability caused by insect outbreaks", that was in action from 2007 to 2009"

The project was lead by a team of researchers from different Universities and scientific centres throughout Canada and also from USA, and was funded by the SFMN. From the knowledge of the three most important insect pests in Canada (mountain pine beetle, spruce budworm, and forest tent caterpillar), our principal objectives were to understand: 1) how can we improve estimates of outbreak impacts, 2) stand response to disturbance, 3) influence of stand structure and composition on outbreaks, and 4) historical variations of outbreak in time and space.

Although the project has officially finished, we consider that the efforts and results obtained must be available for the people interested. Moreover, different activities and syntheses of results are already in process. For these reasons, the webpage is still active and will be updated with new and interesting information.

Please visit the different sections and take a look

Cheers!
