Main Issues

Ratification
This section provides a thorough  description of the main initiatives undertaken by civil society to promote the universality of the Rome Statute, as well as a discussion of major obstacles and successes, using a region-per region approach that focusses on key countries.

The International Criminal Court
This section treats the paramount question of what can be done to increase civil society's ability to ensure the success of the International Criminal Court itself, notably with respect to ICC investigations and prosecutions, victims' participation, and outreach.

State Cooperation
This section examines how civil society has sought to encourage the governments of States Parties to the Rome Statute to adopt laws that facilitate their duty to cooperate with the Court.

Complementarity and the Role of National Prosecutions
This section discusses the important issue of what civil society can do to address the ‘impunity gap’, that is, how it can work to make national courts more effective in responding to international crimes.

Cross-cutting Themes
Also covered are themes such as those of Natural resource exploitation, Peace and Justice: Conflict-settlement and the rule of law , Women and sexual violence.
