The 2nd Canada-Brazil conference in communications
will be held at the Université du Québec à Montréal,
on October 11 and 12, 2005. It will focus on social progress and cultural
diversity in the context of the discussions aiming to establish free trade
between all american countries. Among other topics, participants will
be invited to discuss Canadian and Brazilian viewpoints regarding the
importance of social, cultural and communicational policies; an international
agreement to protect and foster cultural diversity; languages as communication
tools and modes of expression; media coverage of events related to FTAA;
audiovisual production in Brazil, Canada and Quebec; NGO's, professional
associations' and unions' role in the development of cultural and communication
industries; Brazil's, Canada's and Quebec's cinematography.
The presentations, discussions and debates during the symposium will be
of interest to professors, researchers, public officers and communications
professionals in Brazil as well as in Canada. Papers proposals (less than
3000 characters) should be emailed, in Word or RTF format, before 1st
of May 2005 to either one of the following

Acceptation letters will be sent to authors for June 15, 2005. The full
paper (between 25000 and 35000 characters) should be received by Edgard
or Gaetan before August 31, 2005.
