Michael Schleifer is a Professor (now retired) in the Faculty of Education at the Université du Québec à Montréal (Sections Foundations, Epistemology, and Educational Psychology). He obtained his B.Phil.in Oxford (Philosophy) and his Ph.D. at McGill (Psychology).

He has taught Ethics at McGill University (Philosophy Department) and worked as a Clinical Psychologist at the Montreal Children’s Hospital (Department of Psychiatry). He has published numerous articles in Educational, Philosophical and Psychological journals.

He has recently published books on how to converse with children and adolescents about values and feelings. He has also edited books on identity, cooperation, responsibility, and children's understanding of death. He also teaches courses for adults on contemporary moral problems and the brain/mind connection.

He is a grandfather of three children with whom he enjoys conversing about feelings.
