"Electricity production and greenhouse gases: facts and perspectives"

The organizing committee is pleased to invite contributions to the Symposium "Electricity production and greenhouse gases: facts and perspectives". A few keynote studies will be selected to be presented as oral communications, while the remainder of all contributed papers will be presented as posters. French or English could be used equally to present papers during the Symposium. Simultaneous translation for these two languages will be available for all oral communications. Oral and posters contributions will be the focus of three working sessions during the first half of the Symposium, and will be followed by two days of workshop sessions. Papers will be reviewed and all accepted contributions will be published in a special issue of Chemosphere (Elsevier Science Ltd) in early 1998. Hence, all papers prepared for this publication should be submitted in English according to the required format of this Journal.

First: submit an abstract of approximately 500 words. Three copies of the abstracts should be typed, double spaced, on plain white paper according to the format below. As abstracts will be submitted to revision, please make them substantive to assist the reviewers. All abstract should be submitted to the Symposium secretariat no later than February 15 1997.

This is an example of how the abstract for the Symposium should appear: "ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION AND GREENHOUSE GASES: FACTS AND PERSPECTIVES", SPEAKING, I.M. (Environmental Agency, Somewhere, Province, Canada) and NOT-SPEAKING, U.R. (Electricity Production Facility, Somewhere-else, State, USA). Submitted for SESSION n° X   The title of the abstract must be typed all in capital letters. It must be separated from the list of authors by a blank line. The speaker's name must be underlined, and the affiliation of all authors must be provided. The session for which this contribution is submitted should be indicated after the list of authors.   The body of the abstract must have paragraphs that are indented 2 spaces. Do not leave a blank line between paragraphs.

Second: Abstract acceptance will be mailed before the end of March of 1997 together with details on how to prepare a 4-page paper (approx. 3000 words) for publication in the Symposium proceedings. A disk and a "camera-ready" hard copy will be required by May 4-7, during the Symposium. The 4-page limit will include diagrams, references and tables (set these in the text).

Third: Prepare your poster to fit into a space of approx. 2m x 1m. Further details will be sent out with the abstract acceptance in March of 1997. Remember that all communications, oral or poster, during the Symposium can be presented in either French or English. However, papers for publication in the Symposium proceedings must be submitted in English.
