"Electricity production and greenhouse gases: facts and perspectives"
Program of the international symposium:

Introduction: short presentation by the President of the Symposium, Prof. Marc Lucotte, to set the general socio-economic "context" of a world-wide increasing energetic demand.
Following this introduction, four keynote speakers will define the Symposium's framework during oral presentations (~40 min) open to the public:
Plenary sessions: "Greenhouse gases emissions from electrical production systems"
Poster session: assessment of greenhouse gases emissions from conventional and alternative electricity production systems taking into account their complete life cycle.
Poster session: assessment of greenhouse gases emissions from conventional and alternative electricity production systems taking into account their complete life cycle.
Session 5 (am) President: André Chamberland (Hydro-Québec)
Workshop session: "Methodologies for the assessment of greenhouse gases emissions from electrical production systems"
Introduction: short presentation from a member of the Symposium's scientific committee to summarize the views presented in sessions 2, 3, and 4. This introduction will be followed by two oral communications from keynote speakers (15-20 min) to present the scientific and socio-economic aspects, respectively, of measuring and extrapolating greenhouse gases emissions from electricity production systems.
Scientific aspects: André Chamberland - Hydro-Québec (Montréal, Canada)
Socio-economic aspects: Angela Liberatore - European Commission (Bruxelles, Belgium)
Workshop session: Stabilisation of greenhouse gases emissions: the result oriented short to mid-term approach in policies and implementations"
Introduction (15-20 min): "The international situation: an overview"
"The present situation: facts and perspectives".
Workshop session: "Recent long term policies in electricity production for the reduction of greenhouse gases emissions in a sustainable development perspective: objectives, timing, planning and budgeting options"
Introduction (15-20 min): Mark Jaccard: BCUC - Vancouver (Canada)
This introduction will be followed by a short panel featuring the diversity of interests present at the Symposium (industries, scientists, environmental groups, policy makers).
5 parallel wokshops on modification policies that take into account the long term planification and financial policies and eventual structural changes in the different electrical production systems.
Closing session: short plenary session for the presentation of the results and discussions from workshop sessions 5, 6, and 7.
